Lara BurrowsLara J. Burrows, MD, MSc, is the Medical Director of the Center for Sexual Health in Akron, Ohio and the Associate Director of the Center for Vulvovaginal Disorders in Washington DC. She completed her undergraduate education at New York University where she earned a degree in psychology. She graduated from Dartmouth Medical School and then completed her residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at The John Hopkins Hospital. She continued her post-graduate training at New York University and the University of Pittsburgh where she completed a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery as well as an NIH-sponsored Master's degree in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis. Dr. Burrows is the author of more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts. She is the senior associate editor for the textbook Female Sexual Pain Disorders: Evaluation and Management. Dr. Lara Burrows grew up in Connecticut. She completed her undergraduate degree at New York University where she earned a degree in psychology; research that she performed as an undergraduate was featured prominently in Malcolm Gladwell's best selling book Blink. She graduated from the Dartmouth School of Medicine and then completed her Ob/Gyn residency at the John Hopkins Hospital. She continued her post-graduate training at NYU and the University of Pittsburgh where she completed a fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery. She also obtained a Master's in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis.

  Dr. Burrows is the author of more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts and is regarded as an expert in the evaluation and treatment in female pelvic floor disorders, and interstitial cystitis. She is the senior associate editor for the textbook Female Sexual Pain Disorders: Evaluation and Management. In addition, she is the co-author of 101 Questions about Vulvar Disease that was be published in 2009.

 Her husband is a plastic surgeon who specializes in hand and breast surgery. She has a three-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter. In her spare time, she enjoys decorative furniture painting and restoring 17th and 18th century French and Italian furniture.   (http://www.cvvd.org)

Andrew T. Goldstein, MD, is an Associate Clinical professor at the George Washington University School of Medicine and is Director of the Centers for Vulvovaginal Disorders in Washington DC and New York City.  He graduated from the University of Virginia and the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Goldstein is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and he has been elected to the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease (ISSVD). He is President-Elect of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health (ISSWSH).  He is a co-editor for a textbook entitled Female Sexual Pain Disorders:  Evaluation & Management that was published in 2009 and his third book When Sex Hurts will be released in February 2011. Dr. Goldstein is actively involved in research and has published more than 60 abstracts, peer-reviewed articles, and book chapters on female sexual dysfunction, sexual pain disorders, lichen sclerosus, lichen simplex chronicus, vulvodynia, and vestibulodynia (vulvar vestibulitis syndrome).  He has lectured extensively on the subjects of vulvodynia, vulvar disease, and female sexual dysfunction, and has been interviewed by many media outlets. Dr. Andrew T. Goldstein grew up in Bridgeton, New Jersey and graduated from the University of Virginia and the University of  Virginia School of Medicine. He pursued his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Beth Israel Medical Center. After completing his residency, Dr. Goldstein moved to Annapolis, Maryland and started the Sexual Wellness Center which is devoted to the treatment of female sexual dysfunction. In 1999, he joined the faculty of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and he became the Director of the Center for Vulvovaginal Disorders in Washington, D.C. and New York City in 2002.

Dr. Goldstein is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and he has been elected as a Felllow of the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease and to the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology. Dr Goldstein is a grant recipient of the National Vulvodynia Association, and he is President-Elect of the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health. He is the editor of the textbook Female Sexual Pain Disorders: Evaluation and Management  that was be published by Blackwell-Wiley in February 2009. He also recently co-authored the chapter on female sexual dysfunction for the Johns Hopkins Manual of Gynecology and Obstetrics and his book Reclaiming Desire was published by Rodale Books in 2004 and the second edition of that book was released in 2010. Lastly, Dr. Goldstein's newest book When Sex Hurts was released by DaCapo in January 2011.

Dr. Goldstein is actively involved in research and has published more than 75 peer-reviewed abstracts, papers, and chapters on lichen sclerosus, lichen planus, and vulvar vestibulitis syndrome. He is an Associate-Editor of the Journal of Sexual Medicine and The Female Pateint. Dr. Goldstein lectures frequently on the subjects of vulvodynia, vulvar disease, and female sexual dysfunction. He has been interviewed by ABC's 20/20, The View, The Dr. Oz Show, Good Morning America, Discovery Health, TLC, Allure, Prevention, the Washington Post, USA Today, and the New York Times.

Dr. Goldstein's wife, Gail, is a dermatologist in Annapolis, Maryland. They have three wonderful daughters: Lena, Mimi, and Julia. Together they enjoy skiing, scuba diving, wine tasting, and adventurous travel.  (http://www.cvvd.org)

Denniz Zolnoun, MD, MPH, associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology and Director of the Vulvar Pain Clinic at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, provides medical care to many women with vulvodynia. In 2003, she was the recipient of the prestigious BIRCWH Scholarship (Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women's Health). In 2006, she received a five-year grant from the National Institutes of Health to refine diagnostic criteria for vulvar vestibulitis syndrome by studying vulvar skin and pelvic muscle sensitivity. Georgine Lamvu, MD, MPH, associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Florida State University, directs the gynecology unit at Florida Hospital in Orlando and supervises the hospital's surgical outcome database. Additionally, she serves as Director of the Florida Hospital Chronic Pelvic Pain Clinic, which provides medical care to 2000 women with chronic pelvic or urogenital pain disorders annually. Dr. Lamvu completed her fellowship in advanced laparoscopy and pelvic pain at the University of North Carolina, where she supervised the chronic pelvic pain database evaluating surgical and medical outcomes in women with chronic pelvic pain. Lori Boardman, MD, ScM, is a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando. Her clinical practice is located within the University's Student Health Services, which is used by 9,000 women annually.  Dr. Boardman previously served as the Director of the Vulvar and Colposcopy Clinics at Women & Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. She was also a recipient of the Mentored Investigator Award in Women's Health from the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Boardman will serve as advisor in research methodology and data analysis. Richard Marvel, MD, is assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, director of the Center for Pelvic Pain at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Maryland and president of the International Pelvic Pain Society. Thousands of women with vulvodynia and other urogenital/pelvic pain disorders visit his Center annually. Dr. Marvel works closely with local pain specialists, physical therapists, psychologists and other medical specialists to coordinate multidisciplinary medical care for these women. He is an accomplished laparoscopic surgeon, has extensive experience in the surgical treatment of Provoked Vestibulodynia, endometriosis and other gynecological disorders, and has authored numerous publications on these conditions.
